In this mini episode, I mostly talk about the new format for the podcast going forward. While editing my recent episodes, I realized that my audio rambles have become a bit structureless and a repetitive. With no real format, I’ve fallen into habits that I’ve watched almost all of my favourite podcasters succumb to. Their style becomes formulaic, opinions and examples are repeated and, as a listener, you can almost predict their next line of thinking before they even start it.
The Joe Rogan Experience was the first podcast I ever listened to and by the time I tapped out (around episode 1000) I could easily guess his reactions to almost anything. It’s become a bit of a trope by now with his massive popularity but I’ve experienced the same with almost every other podcast that I follow. It’s an inevitable side effect of talking for hundreds of hours, I suppose.
So for me, going forward, instead of just choosing a broad topic and rambling on about it until I run out of steam, feel awkward and stop recording, I’ve come up with a new system to keep things fresh. First of all, I’ve got a fucking spreadsheet going which we all know means it’s sexy-nerd-business-time. Secondly, the spreadsheet combined with timed segments and a paywall will help keep this ship floating all sexy, wild and free!
